Crowds in excess of two million are expected to line Fifth Avenue on Sunday, June 14th for the 2009 Puerto Rican Day Parade. The parade will start at 11 am at Fifth Avenue and 44th Street and proceed uptown along Fifth Avenue to 86th Street. To help celebrate, check out our classic mix show "THE ZRO HOUR: ROOTS OF HIP HOP- Boricua Pride". After a few shots of Bacardi Anejo, Alexie F. and I rock the house with a tribute to some of the most influential Puerto Rican artists in hip hop. "Kung Fu" Star David Carradine Found Dead In Thai Hotel Room

"Kung Fu" and "Kill Bill" star David Carradine was found hung in a closet in a hotel room in Bangkok on Wednesday, Thai police reported. David Carradine, 72, was in Thailand shooting a film. He went missing on June 3rd and was discovered in his hotel room by one of the maids. David Carradine was best known for his role as the fugitive half-Chinese Shaolin monk Kwai Chang Caine in the 1970s TV drama "Kung Fu". He also starred in Martin Scorsese's "Boxcar Bertha" in 1972, portrayed folksinger Woody Guthrie in "Bound for Glory" in 1976, acted in Ingmar Bergman's "The Serpent's Egg" in 1977 and co-starred with half brothers Keith Carradine and Robert Carradine in the 1980 western "The Long Riders". His father was the noted actor John Carradine.

David is a pop culture icon and is held in both reverence and contempt for his portrayal of "Caine" in the series 'Kung Fu". Carradine was a white actor of non-Asian descent who was hired to play a character originally developed by and for Bruce Lee. The failure of Hollywood to recognize the potential stardom and acceptance of Bruce Lee as a featured Chinese actor was one of the catalysts that made Bruce return to Hong Kong and develop his explosive stardom. David's performance as "Caine" was done respectfully and helped to grow an increasing fan base of martial art film and practitioners at that time. Director Quentin Tarantino tapped Carradine to portray the title character "Bill" in 2003's "Kill Bill" and 2004"s "Kill Bill 2". The film was an homage to the martial arts genre and bought new fame for David Carradine in the last several years.

Rapper King T Also Loses A Daughter; Funeral Today

Earlier this week, it was reported that former heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson, lost his 4 year old daughter, Exodus, due to a treadmill accident. Today, West Coast rapper King T, buries his teenage daughter after she died from the result of a car crash on Tuesday, May 26th. Heaven McBride was only 16 years of age. We at THE ZRO HOUR send our condolences to King T and family during this terrible loss.

Mike Tyson’s Daughter Dies After Hanging Accident

This was widely reported across the news services and it has resulted in a great tragedy for former heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson. Mike Tyson is experiencing a resurgence in popularity and visibility due to the recent release of his critically acclaimed documentary titled "TYSON" and his upcoming appearance in a new comedy, "The Hangover". Exodus Tyson was only 4 years old and her life was cut short in an accident stemming from Exodus' asphyxiation by a treadmill's cables. Our prayers are with you Mike and with your family.

Coming soon (in just a matter of weeks), we are about to release our promotional CD entitled "THE ZRO HOUR: Respect The Architects Vol. 1". It will be a compilation of some of the best freestyles and interview highlights of the past few years. The CD will feature Eternia, Point Dot Period, Dashah, Godhead The General, Bekay, Lin Que, Hasan Salaam, Chesney Snow, K Banger, Monster, Randy Mason, Knewdles from the Misnomers and others. The CD also features an exclusive track by Six Zro Entertainment's SAFARI, produced by EDAYE & Ambush, and two classic joints by ZEPS- "I Love NY" and "The Zro Hour Promo".

The brilliant artwork above was done by DUBELYOO. Dubelyoo's art has been featured in several magazines and corporate campaigns. DUBELYOO'S work appears in the 2006 full-length motion picture, ATL, directed by Chris Robinson. His work is also featured in the 2008 music video for Grammy award winner Alicia Keys' single, "Teenage Love Affair". I had been following Dubelyoo's work for a couple of years and Beth "The Superfan" suggested I contact him to see if he could do the cover for us. It was the best idea and resulted in the impressive painting above. Dubelyoo captured our personalities and the vibe of THE ZRO HOUR perfectly.

THE ZRO HOUR will be repping at this year's BROOKLYN HIP HOP FESTIVAL (6/20) and will be distributing free copies of the CD there. More info coming soon-
