MOVIES: HBO New York International Latino Film Festival screening of hip-hop thriller "Rhyme Animal"

July 27-Aug 2, 2009 marks the Tenth Anniversary of the HBO New York International Latino Film Festival, the premier Urban Latino film event in the country and will be screening the independent film RHYME ANIMAL Sunday, Aug 2 at SVA Theater Screen 1, 5:15PM. RHYME ANIMAL was created, co-written and co-produced by Jorge Rivera, Latino filmmaker and former member of the seminal Afro-Latin Rock band, “Bay of Pigs”.

"Rhyme Animal" is an Award-Winning short created by Brooklyn-based Producer/Writer, Jorge Rivera, Producer/Writer - Aaron F. As the rapper’s reputation grows, his lyrics become twisted, cannibalistic...yet prophetic. 1st Single off of the highly anticipated release from Uzi Scott aka Lefty (Bash Bros.)

Lefty teamed up with Chicago native producer Dextah to take an artistic leap not commonly seen in the Hip Hop genre. The first single release from Small World, Big Noise is the new soundtrack for Hip Hop's hopeless romantics titled “Never Knew Me.” The track digs deep into the core of broken relationships between men & women. Lefty’s heart wrenching lyrics narrate a relationship gone sour over a street psychedelic beat.

VIDEO: MALICE of THE CLIPSE Video Blog: Honest Talk & Hip Hop

Malice Video Blog 1 from Malice of the Clipse on Vimeo.

For far too long, many who were exposed to hip hop in the time when there was more honesty and diversity of themes in the genre, have wished for a return to better content. That generation of fans has noticed the prevalence of irresponsible subject matter and its effect on those who may not know the difference between fantasy and reality. MALICE of Virginia hip hop group The Clipse, is known for colorful, violent, true-life depictions of the drug game and the life that can be had with the dirty money that it brings. Malice has started a video blog (which is up to episode five) which addresses his thoughts and concerns about hip hop, its content, creativity and its effect on the youth. Refreshing to hear honest talk and get some insight into the mind of one of hip hop's premier emcees.
