MOVIES: HBO New York International Latino Film Festival screening of hip-hop thriller "Rhyme Animal"

July 27-Aug 2, 2009 marks the Tenth Anniversary of the HBO New York International Latino Film Festival, the premier Urban Latino film event in the country and will be screening the independent film RHYME ANIMAL Sunday, Aug 2 at SVA Theater Screen 1, 5:15PM. RHYME ANIMAL was created, co-written and co-produced by Jorge Rivera, Latino filmmaker and former member of the seminal Afro-Latin Rock band, “Bay of Pigs”.
"Rhyme Animal" is an Award-Winning short created by Brooklyn-based Producer/Writer, Jorge Rivera, Producer/Writer - Aaron F. Schnore (finalist Project Greenlight; Writer’s Network Screenplay Competition Grand Prize Winner), Producer/Writer - Billy Fox (Writer’s Network Screenplay Competition Grand Prize Winner) and directed by the Award-winning Haitian- American filmmaker Phil Roc (AVENUE X; 2005 Gotham International Film & Video Festival- Best Director Award) that tells the tale of DJ Judah, a Brooklyn DJ who rides the coat tails of a rising hip hop star, Shiva. As the rapper’s reputation grows, his lyrics become twisted, cannibalistic...yet prophetic. As killings occur, DJ Judah is forced to ask if Shiva’s sinister lyrics are an act or those of a cannibalistic serial killer. The cast includes Craig “muMs” Grant (The HBO series "Oz": Arnold 'Poet' Jackson, "Law & Order" (2006): Cousin Chet, "The Sopranos" (2006): Mop, Al Thompson (“Love Don't Co$t a Thing” (2003): Ted, “A Walk to Remember” (2002): Eric), and Bridget Barkan (SherryBaby (2006): Lynette Swanson, HBO's Everyday People (2004): Joleen) and Dani Marco, Dell Wells, E.C. Larock, and Chris Depierro.
