Round5 presents series 2 of its Ultimate Collector Series of UFC figures. Kimbo rose to notoriety after a series of backyard street fights that earned him millions of views on youtube. He has made a transition into professional MMA fighting and was featured on last season's Ultimate Fighter TV series. Retailing for $12.99, this figure will be a highly sought after collectible.

COLLECTIBLES: MICHAEL JACKSON "Bad" Figure by Hot Toys

HOT TOYS have outdone themselves again. After releasing two, 12" fully articulated Michael Jackson figures last year ("Thriller" and "Billie Jean" versions) they have announced the upcoming "Bad" version.

The 1/6th scale Michael Jackson (Bad version) collectible specially features:

- Authentic and detailed fully realized likeness of Michael Jackson in the Bad music video
- Newly developed head sculpt with new make-up
- Parallel Eyeball Rolling System (PERS) and colored Translucent Iris
- Multi-layered stereoscopic hair sculpture
- Slim version of TrueType body with 38 points of articulation
- Approximately 30 cm tall
- One (1) pair of punches, five (5) additional right and two (2) extra left interchangeable and posing palms
- Each piece of head sculpt is specially hand-painted

COLLECTIBLES: RBST X SOMR Cubeecraft- J DILLA (RIP)

I have been seeing these online for quite some time but never downloaded templates or attempted to construct one. Paper toys/figures also known as Cubeecraft, are another element in the collectible vinyl toy world. Though made of paper, these ingenious figures are designed by some of the illest artists in the graf, vinyl toy and underground art world. The above figure was designed by RBST in collaboration with SOMR to pay homage to one of the greatest producers in hip hop and R&B- J DILLA. It even comes with a paper toy version of an MPC3000! COLLECTIBLES: MICHAEL JACKSON "Thriller" Figure by Hot Toys

HOT TOYS released images of their newest collectible figure in their M-ICON collection- Michael Jackson's "Thriller". Hot Toys is known for their work creating action figures of some of the most iconic characters in science fiction/fantasy films, celebrities and musicians. Their figures are extremely detailed in their facial appearance, clothing and accessories. The release of the "Thriller" version of Michael Jackson brings the iconic look and characterization of MJ made famous in the classic 1983 short film/music video. This is the second version of Michael Jackson from Hot Toys, the first being the "Billie Jean/History tour" version. The Michael Jackson - Thriller collectible features:

- Hot Toys’ slim version TrueType body, over 32 points of articulation, stands approximately 30 cm high
- 2 interchangeable heads – MJ head and Zombie head
- 2 sets of costumes ( original red jacket and pants & the zombie suit)
- 2 sets of white socks with black shoes
- Five (5) sets of interchangeable hands and one (1) additional posing right hand
- 12 inches figure stand with the classic Thriller title and Michael Jackson nameplate

The figure retails for $189 at this seller and may be hard to find at that price for long due to the demand for MJ collectibles since his death.

COLLECTIBLES: Misaki Minato Action Figure from Santa Inoue's Tokyo Tribe3

On an earlier post I spoke briefly about a hip hop/street gang based animated series from Japan entitled TOKYO TRIBE2. TOKYO TRIBE2 is an incredibly authentic (in respect to hip hop) series created by Santa Inoue and animated by MADHouse Studios. It is based on the TOKYO TRIBES manga (first published in 1998) and follows the lives and conflicts of several street gangs or "tribes" in modern day Japan. The manga and the anime illustrates urban culture with nods to DJs emcees, graf and fashion. Some of the supporting characters have names influenced by real hip hop personalities. The above figure by Medicom Toy is due to be released in the last quarter of 2009. Misaki Minato is a character from the current manga series TOKYO TRIBE3. The detail is spot on with the clothing draping the figure just right. Check out the "gumby" fade and the Timbs! TOKYO TRIBE3 is not available yet in the U.S. but you can get the original TOKYO TRIBES english translated manga at Amazon.com.
