2011 BROOKLYN HIP HOP FESTIVAL Ticket Packages Now On Sale
Brooklyn Bodega is announcing discounted ticket packages making the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival (BHF) New York City's largest but most affordable event.
"Hip-Hop events that cost $50, $60, $100 and more are antithetical to the roots of this culture. Hip-Hop started out in the park with people like Cindy Campbell [Kool Herc's sister] throwing parties for $1 to buy back-to-school clothes. Corporate interests have hijacked our culture charging exorbitant fees that make Hip-Hop events available to only one homogenous group. With these ticket packages, we are cutting closer-to-the-bone to pass on savings directly to our Bodega Family. I also want to take this time to shout out other organizations that venture to make their events affordable to the masses as well: Celebrate Brooklyn, Summer Stage and Tools of War (among others)." - Wes Jackson, Executive Director of The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival
Here are the packages:
The Family 4-Pack
2 adult and 2 kid tickets to the Main Day and Family Day - $35 (savings of 40%)
The Long Weekend Package
Entry to "Salute The DJ" on Thursday - 7/14, "The Bodega Awards" on Friday - 7/15, "Family Day", "Main Day", & "After Party" on Saturday - 7/16 - $45 (savings of $50)
VIP All-Week Access Pass
Badge that gets you into every BHF '11 event (Show & Prove Super Bowl 7/11, Bodega Art Show 7/12, Bodega Education Initiative 7/13, Salute The DJ 7/14, Bodega Awards 7/15, Family Day-Main Day-After Party 7/16) + official T-shirt and Festival goodie bag - $65 (valued over $100)

DE LA SOUL TO HEADLINE 6th ANNUAL BROOKLYN HIP-HOP FESTIVAL
Brooklyn Bodega, producers of the 6th Annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival (BHF), is excited to announce this year's headliner - De La Soul.
Since 1989, De La Soul (Pos, Dave and Mase) have been a cornerstone of Hip-Hop music and culture. From the groundbreaking album "3 Feet High and Rising" to "Grind Date" De La is simply one of the best to ever do it.
"To be honest, we have been trying to get De La Soul to headline the Festival since we first came up with the idea in 2005. On many levels they are the perfect flag bearers for our mission to use Hip-Hop as an agent of change. For over 20 years they have traveled the world inspiring MC's, producers, DJ's and fans alike. I can think of no better artist to usher the Festival into its new home in Brooklyn Bridge Park." - Wes Jackson, Executive Director, The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival
Tickets go on sale Monday May 3rd at www.BrooklynBodega.com, the official home of the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. On this date, organizers are launching the Bodega Soldiers Program, which is their way of thanking the members of the Bodega Family who have turned out time and time again to make the Festival into NYC's largest Hip-Hop cultural event.
PLEASE NOTE: Those Bodega Soldiers who purchase their tickets by May 21st will get access to premium packages at no additional charge. Anticipated perks include being on a priority mailing list that receives all Festival announcements prior to the general public, admittance to a reserved section next to the stage, ability to enter exclusive raffles, priority check-in at the Main Day venue and a FREE commemorative souvenir. Bodega Soldiers will also automatically be entered to win backstage VIP packages.

THE ZRO HOUR: Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival 2009 from EDAYE on Vimeo.
THE ZRO HOUR was in the house for the 5th annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival presented by brooklynbodega.com. Although it rained off and on throughout the day, the turnout was great. Many lucky attendees received free copies of the limited edition CD, THE ZRO HOUR: RESPECT THE ARCHITECTS VOL.1. Our favorite rapper that wears a skirt, ETERNIA, stopped by our table to shout us out.

FLICKS: THE ZRO HOUR Reps Hard at The 5th Annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival

Last weekend's 5th annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival, presented by brooklynbodega.com, was our first time doing promotion at an event like this. We had been doing a lot of networking behind the scenes and through online venues. I booked a booth and used the festival to serve as the launch of our free promo CD, THE ZRO HOUR: RESPECT THE ARCHITECTS VOL.1. A limited run of CDs were pressed and they will be distributed through the summer at various events. For those that may not obtain a copy, there is a download link at the top of the page.
It rained steadily off and on throughout the whole day but that did not stop several hundred hip hop heads from showing up and enjoying the sounds of Marco Polo & Torae, DJ Premier, Styles P, Pharoahe Monch, Smif -N- Wesssun and many upcoming acts including the Brown Bag All-Stars. A couple of hundred people stopped by the booth and 300 CDs were given away in total. Most people were blown away by Dubelyoo's artwork and excited to hear more about THE ZRO HOUR. Eternia, DJ JS-1 and Randy Mason stopped by during the day to show support.
